Esteban Leon is the Chief Technical Advisor of the Global Resilience Infrastructure Programme - City Resilience Profiling Programme in Barcelona. Background in Economics, Finance and building construction and reconstruction projects in post-crisis situations. He has worked in private sector (banking, microcredit and microfinance projects in Argentina and Bolivia), NGOs (slum upgrading, building constructions and reconstruction programmes in Bolivia and Kenya) He has been working for UN-Habitat since 2002 (Nairobi, Geneva and globally).
UN-Habitat representative for the Humanitarian IASC Global Shelter Cluster, Cluster Working Group in Early Recovery, International Recovery Platform, Post Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA), Post Conflict Needs Assessment (PCNA), Regional Focal point for the IASC Global Shelter Cluster in the Americas and former Disaster Risk Reduction Coordinator in Geneva and for the UN-ISDR. Developed, fundraised, initiated and managed projects on Disaster Management and Post conflict shelter and settlements recovery in Angola, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Pakistan, Lebanon, Nicaragua, Peru, Colombia, Georgia, Gaza, Haiti, El Salvador, Fiji &Samoa and lately Lebanon, Syria and the Philippines while supporting UN-HABITAT in Somalia, Myanmar and Bangladesh operations.
